Well what can we say, it has been a while, since our last blog! The last one being during the Pandemic. It has been a tough few years not just for the manufacturing industry, but for many industries and services worldwide.
The COVID-19 pandemic sent shock waves through the world economy and we all experienced price increases in raw materials, overheads following the Pandemic, coupled with the cost of living crisis, Countries at War and Political changes which all weigh heavily on the outlook. Obviously within the UK, businesses are now seeing the extra costs with the changes in the UK minimum wage and the increase in the Employers National Insurance contributions.
With everything that has been thrown at businesses over the past four years, many industries have also struggled with finding Skilled Workers to fill vacancies, a shortage of skilled technicians, engineers, and production operatives which in turn can impact productivity, leading to longer lead-times.
Here at Ceramic Substrates, over the past couple of months we have been lucky enough to have two new members join our Team, one being a CNC Programmer and the other a Production Operative. Our Lead-times over the past couple of years have been longer than we would wish but moving forward this should start to become shorter. We are also looking forward to our Senior Programmer and Tool Maker returning to work after several months off following Heart Surgery. We are lucky that the majority of our Team have been with us for over twenty years and have helped to see Ceramic Substrates through the good and hard times.
