October

October has seen a change within the Ceramic Substrates Team.  We had to  say goodbye to Tom one of our CNC Engineers, Tom has left to travel the world and his plans are to end up in Australia where he hopes to settle eventually on a permanent basis.  We wish him well, although he shall be missed by the Team.  However, we have a new member who joined the CNC Team to train and eventually take over the reins from Tom and funny enough his name is also Tom.

New Tom who studied his BTEC Level 3 in Engineering at the Isle of Wight College, then carrying on his training with a couple of local Engineering Companies, joined Ceramic Substrates half way through the month to work alongside “old” Tom to learn the tricks of the trade so to speak.

Emily, who used to work for Ceramic Substrates full-time before having a baby, has come back for just a couple of hours a week.  Emily’s little girl is now over a year old and the apple of mum and dad’s eye.

As we head into the Winter Season, all heaters have had their annual service and are ready to keep us all warm on cold winter days, thank you Clarke’s Mechanical for an excellent service.

Servicing and maintenance  of all our equipment throughout the offices and factory is very important to maintain a safe working environment.   The team in the factory appreciate the Kilns in the cold wet months for their extra warmth.  This week like all others our Kilns are firing many components from various materials such as Steatite,  Alumina,  R197 Refractory and Pyrophyllite Aluminium Silicate.
