Competitive market

This week has been a bit full on to say the least. We have received orders from old customers who we have not heard from for a while and more customers that are new are responding to our online marketing and websites. Is this a sign that the negative manufacturing spiral is ending and our economy is finally improving? We all know that the ceramic industry is highly competitive with plenty of manufacturers trying to sell the same or similar products. At Ceramic Substrates, we are aware of this and of course always looking at the competition and their products. I believe that at Ceramic Substrates we are competitive in many different areas not only on the price of the product. Being a family firm with the majority of our employees working with us for a long period, some as long as twenty-six years we are very dedicated to giving our customers old and new the high standard they expect and deserve. Here at Ceramic Substrates the continuity with our customers is one important key to success. With the many years of stability with our employees, there is also continuity of expertise on the factory floor and office. This in my eyes will support our advantage in the market today. We welcome customers to contact or visit us to talk about their requirements and we will assist with any questions or concerns they might have.

Hands on

This week I have been mainly on the shop floor carrying out some research and development work. I am currently working on a new process which we hope to use with a specific ceramic product. My secretary has been on holiday this week, so she has not been calling me on the tannoy checking up on me! However, her commitment to the company is being felt for she sends emails reminding us of things and to tell us what a fantastic time she is having.


We are currently working on our website and hope to have some new pictures and a banner added soon.

Communication

Communication is the key to keeping Ceramic Substrates moving in the right direction. In this particular case we looked at the communication platform in house, for it had become known that time was being lost either looking for staff or transferring phone calls within the factory. Up until this week, we had a pager system but often batteries would go flat or there were not enough pagers to go round or like myself at times forgetting to switch it on? Anyway, following discussions and ideas from staff, we opted for a tannoyed system including some wireless dect phones to integrate with our existing telephone structure. I can honestly say once we ironed out the teething problems (mainly setting the volumes on the speakers); the investment has proved worth while. The only drawback is I can no longer hide when my Secretary is chasing me for answers for her voice can now bellow out all around the factory and she loves it.

Regular blogging and updates

We are currently in the process of updating our website, therefore we thought a regular blog entry with the latest news about Ceramic Substrates to keep you posted would be good idea.

This blog is a way of introducing you to new ceramic developments and to help you to get to know our staff, the TEAM behind this family run business.
