Aluminium Nitride is a high purity ceramic with superior microstructural and chemical uniformity resulting in very consistent properties. It is manufactured with tightly distributed thermal and electrical properties that provide reliable performance in a variety of applications. AlN can be readily metallized and has been qualified by major users in high power and high frequency microelectronic packages as a cost-effective alternative to beryllia.
Aluminium Nitride has excellent thermal conductivity, eight times higher than
alumina and approaching beryllia at higher temperatures. It offers thermal expansion
match to silicon and dielectric loss can be modified for specific customer applications.
Aluminium Nitride offers excellent resistance to wafer processing gases and
plasma erosion.
Aluminium Nitride components can be custom fabricated as thin substrates or
large structural shapes. Dielectric loss can be modified for specific applications.
Aluminium Nitride is the material of choice for a variety of high performance applications in markets worldwide as outlined here.
Ideal substrate for Direct Bond Copper and Active Metal Braze, metallization, power transistors, high power electric transformers, and more.
RF/Microwave - Active and passive power devices with thermal management needs
Cable Television - Digital amps, amp doublers. Replaces beryllium oxide and
eliminates disposal hazard.
High power and high frequency microelectronic packages and others requiring
superior heat dissipation.
Laser diode sub-mounts.
Optical switches.
